Blog 5 of the Writing Persuasively series of blog posts. This post directs students and learners where to go next.
You want a successful future and in this post I’ll show you exactly how you can start to communicate more effectively by working on your writing skills, and in particular, your ability to write persuasively.

How many times have you chosen to write a text or been asked to do so (maybe by your boss?), and it has not achieved the results that you were wanting? I can think of plenty of common examples in the workplace when you might be given exactly that type of task. Here are a few:
You have been asked to write an internal communication which has the purpose of convincing your team to adopt a new tool or method
You have been instructed to craft marketing copy for your company’s products or services
You have to write customer-facing content which involves responding to negative reviews trying to restore reputation
You have to convince your partners to renew contracts or agreements
You are making a request for professional development funding or time off for training
And what about everyday life?
Again, there are lots of examples of when you might be in this sort of situation:
You might want to convince your landlord to allow a pet or approve a lease modification
You may need to dispute parking fines or other penalties
You need to appeal against a school decision or exclusion
You want to write fundraising letters for charity events you're organizing
Writing persuasively does not have to be a tremendous chore or frightening experience - and this series of five blogs has included plenty of advice and guidance to help you learn how to write persuasively with skill.
The first blog, Why Writing Persuasively Is A Must-Have Skill For The Future, introduced you to how the ability to be able to write in good English in a variety of styles is so essential, and will continue to be important in the future.
Blog No.2, Core Skills For Writing Texts In English, went back to the basics of creating and crafting any type of text. Blog 2 also delved into more detail about what persuasive writing actually is.
Post No.3 introduced you to some simple techniques that will enhance your written English to get the outcome you want. Remember - the more tools you have in your metaphorical ‘toolbox’, the better writer you will be as you will have many, many more options to choose from at your fingertips.
